Keep praying and believing God – The Word for Today (1st December 2019)

Hi everyone.

We are rapidly approaching the end of the Year of our Lord two thousand and nineteen. What a year it has been. I just stopped and asked myself, what have I learnt, what have I experienced and has it helped to develop me as a child of God?

Make time, take time

Sometimes unless we consciously stop and take stock, the days can blur into one, Satan will keep our minds active with all sorts of challenges and we don’t actually review how we got the victory in one area or another. The danger of not doing this is that as we hit the same types of challenges again (Satan will try, in order to see if we are still vulnerable in those areas), without having done a previous appraisal and having learnt the strategies for victory, we waste energy fighting in the same way, rather than taking the higher ground won in the last excursion.

An example of this for me is the lack of recent posts. It was not because I had gone to be with the Lord or any other such thing, but rather due to life getting busy and with that busyness Satan taking his opportunity to whisper his lies such as, “people don’t want to hear that” or “that’s all about you, only you have that issue, it won’t help anyone else”. A constant bombardment of such lies can sometimes shut down my flow, rather than doing what I should and am doing now – just post anyway.

Well I had to share the message from ‘The Word for Today’ as a reminder to us all to keep pressing on when the enemy tries to distract us and make us think that change is never going to happen. I hope this helps to stir us all up…

‘Many are saying, “God will never rescue him!”’ Psalm 3:2 NLT

Have you been praying for years that God will save your husband, your wife, your children, or your friends? Does your heart long to see the people you love serving Him? Are you getting discouraged? Has someone told you, ‘You’re wasting your time they’ll never change’? If so, read what the psalmist wrote: ‘Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill’ (vv. 2-4 NKJV).

Pay particular attention to the phrase, ‘many are they who say’. Everybody has an opinion, but until God speaks on the matter, the jury is still out! As long as He’s still on the throne and His promises are still true, keep praying and believing God for a miracle. ‘But they’re so far from God right now!’ you say. They may be, but read this and rejoice: ‘The Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear’ (Isaiah 59:1 NKJV). Your loved one is not too far gone for God. They may be messed up on drugs and alcohol, having an affair, or even be in prison. Wherever they are today, the long arm of God’s grace can reach out and save them.

Satan knows that and he wants you to get discouraged and give up. Don’t do it! Just as power flows through electric wire, God’s power flows through your prayers. So keep praying and believing God!

I hope the truth of God’s promise has spoken to you through the Word for Today edition. Be encouraged and strive to keep your confidence in the Lord (Hebrews 10:35).

God bless you,

‘But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.’
1 Thessalonians 5:21 (New Living Translation)
