So as I grappled with some of my thoughts this morning, I could feel a sense of sadness hit my soul.
As I thought about the plight of the Native Americans, the transatlantic slave trade, the plight of the vulnerable in Syria, the great inequality of wealth and so forth, I could feel myself drowning and then I stopped. I asked God to show me something that would give me hope and address these thoughts. So as I opened my Bible at my last bookmark, there was the following scripture highlighted in orange.
Yet (in spite of, even though, not discounting all the facts, never the less…) despite it all, we who have given our lives to, put our trust in and follow the path of Jesus, can rest assuredly in the truth that through His selfless sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, and despite the realities of the horrors that mankind enact upon each other, we ARE more than conquerors through Him who loved us. It is through Him and not ourselves or A. N. Other (aka Joe or Jo Bloggs) that we have victory over despair.
Be encouraged my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever the mountain may be in your life, it is not insurmountable with Jesus on your side and for those who don’t know Him (as I once was), I would simply quote the following:
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”Revelation 3:20
God bless you,
‘But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.’
