A God who loves us

A boat is a vessel

We have a God who loves us so very much that He in all his greatness came to die for an ass like me.

When I read of His trial and crucifixion, the truth is that whilst I get upset about His mistreatment and think thoughts of – “He didn’t deserve it, I did” or “how could they do that”; I am glad He died; Aren’t you?

I rejoice in His unfair trial and death, because if I did not, I’d be saying to myself that there should have been a different way; and that would bring God to my level (Job 38:4) and make Him out to not know better than a little man like me here on earth (Isa 55:8-11).

Thank you my beloved Jesus, for loving me enough to leave your glory of heaven, to walk in a flesh that craves to sin (yet you did not), to die a painful, shameful death, stark naked upon a wooden cross; on my, yes my behalf.

I am loved with such an everlasting love – “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (Jer. 31:3) and you are too.

“But we have this precious treasure [the good news about salvation] in [unworthy] earthen vessels [of human frailty], so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be [shown to be] from God [His sufficiency] and not from ourselves. We are pressured in every way [hedged in], but not crushed; perplexed [unsure of finding a way out], but not driven to despair; hunted down and persecuted, but not deserted [to stand alone]; struck down, but never destroyed;”

This worship song really sums up my thought:

Continue to Fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:3).

God bless you,
